Update: The guy that owns the 300 acres next to us stopped by over the weekend to warn us that he picked up a bobcat on his game cam last week (a large male). I guess we know who the culprit was. Now to do what we can to keep him away...

You could also look into a livestock guardian animal.

Unfortunately we live on 5 partially wooded acres and there really isn't a good way to fence it and give them the room they need.

They are a protected species in NH, so there isn't much I can do other than try to deter them (we do have the option of shooting one if it is attacking, but that would mean we would have to catch it in the act).
