predator leaving behind only feathers

Hi.

I posted an intro earlier and have been reading under the topic of predators. I have one right now but do not know what it is. Today, chicken number three is missing. It is taking my younger hens from the chicken house and leaving behind only feathers. It also killed, but did not take, a young rooster that was obviously trying to defend his ladies. Help!

I already know how I'll reinforce the coop/house but would love to know what is taking them. I've had possums in the past and know how to catch/kill them. I am not sure what I am up against this time and am sorry to see my young, new layers being taken!

Any words of wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Could it be a bird of prey? I believe that hawks & owls will leave only feathers.

Foxes may fit this bill, too.

Might be two different predators. Set a trap.

fox or a racoon possums will leave the dead bird they just take a bite
