I have heard different things from different people about using night time lights to scare away predators. I have always had a bad predator problem as for years I have kept quail in aviaries that being at ground level, the critters cruised every night looking for a meal. I never had any "break ins' however their tracks and scat were everywhere.
So I thought I might try solar lighting. I bought a few of the brightest ones, (you can buy bright, brighter, or brightest), and I put them in the areas these critters were bothering the aviaries. Well, the night time bandits stopped coming to that area! However they started working on another area. So I bought more lights and well, they completely stopped coming!.
These solar lights completely surround my aviaries and of course this year when I started up with chickens, I did the same thing all around the run and especially around the coop. I have not had ANY critter trouble what so ever. Not a print, a poop, not a smell. Nothing.
However my yard IS lit up like an airport runway,
it worked for me.
Now not everyone has luck with them. But you could try and see if they work. These lights don't need direct sun light all the time, as long as it is fairly light outside, they will even charge on a cloudy day.
Good luck!
