Predator proof run?

Hello! I’m in Colorado and just had a run built. I plan to put hardware cloth around the perimeter of the run, but am wondering about the top.

The girls will be in a coop at night. Should I be worried about openings in the top of the run during the day?

Eh, maybe not, but better safe than sorry....especially the longer ones.

Where you live matters with gaps.
For example I am in town and have mainly hawks, raccoon, fox and the ever popular mice as my main issues.

If you are in the country you likely have many more.

From what I can tell it looks like 2x4 framing so the gaps are1.5 by the length.

Weasels would be your biggest concern.

That’s correct. The gaps are 1.5. I think I’ll add hardware cloth at the top to be safe. We get a bit of everything here - bobcats, bears, bull snakes, raccoons
