Predator-Proofing a Prefab Coop

I get that you don’t want to drill into the metal frame of the coop, and I don’t blame you. What if you make an interior frame of 2x4s along the inside bottom of your coop, and connect the hardware cloth apron to the bottom of that wooden frame? I imagine you could slide The hardware cloth under the coop From the outside, and then staple or screw it to the 2x4 on each side. You’d end up stepping over the 2x4 every time you walked in the door, but that’s not too much different than stepping over the metal frame.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I ended up zip tieing the skirt to the metal frame and it worked well. It’s been almost a month now and we’ve seen the fox three times, but we haven’t seen evidence of it trying to break in yet. It’s probably been watching and I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before our efforts are tested. If we have a break in, I’ll commit to the electric fencing.
