I was replying to the question "what is sss". Each person chooses how to protect their livestock and pets. Every situation is different and every persons reaction is different. Stay safe and keep anything you are responsible for safe.I’m all for saving the wild life they are only doing what comes natural, I feel it’s up to us as caretakers to do all we can to protect our flocks etc. I’m not saying if a predator was after one of mine I wouldn’t kill it, I would do my best to protect. I’m just saying wild life is special. Around here people will go out of their way to run over a ground hog just because they will get into a garden. It’s not like they are hiding in the bushes thinking to themselves hey let’s run havoc in that persons garden they just see food. My biggest per peeve is people letting their dogs run loose and they have no idea they are on someone else’s property Killing their ducks!
I completely respect that philosophy, and I myself take that attitude about 99%of wildlife, those around my birds not withstanding, I have a friend who says there are 2 kinds of people, wolves and sheep, I disagree, I believe there are 3, I think there are also shepherds, I try to be the latter.I’m all for saving the wild life they are only doing what comes natural, I feel it’s up to us as caretakers to do all we can to protect our flocks etc. I’m not saying if a predator was after one of mine I wouldn’t kill it, I would do my best to protect. Unless a person is raising poultry for meat, these little babies are our pets and no one wants to deal with a loss and or having to doctor an injured bird from a predator attack.
I hold a very similar philosophy. I had to put a possum down once because he kept coming and getting into my coop. Man I cried when I killed him. I hate doing it and I always try so hard for it not to get to that point.I’m all for saving the wild life they are only doing what comes natural, I feel it’s up to us as caretakers to do all we can to protect our flocks etc. I’m not saying if a predator was after one of mine I wouldn’t kill it, I would do my best to protect.
