Has anyone noticed that if a predator attacks, the victim is usually the favorite of the birds. On two occassions, Ive had attacks from an owl and a fox. In both of those cases, the victim has been the birds that I'm more partial to. In the most recent case, the owl attacked my faorite gosling out of a group of 16 birds. My theory is that the more favorite brids are handled more by their owners and somehow lose some of their natural protective instincts, making them more susceptable to predation. Any thoughts on this?

I don't handle my birds a lot-even my favorites-and they are usually the ones that get attacked. I had a cream legbar last year I was so excited to get eggs from and she was attacked before she ever laid an egg. One of my speckled sussexes was attacked by a hawk as well (he didn't get her) but I think it was because she was oblivious to him. My run is covered so maybe she stopped worrying about hawks. Maybe she is just dumb lol
