Predators in chicken yard (not coop)

We have several 4-7 inch Holes in chicken yard. We have great solar auto door in coop so no problem there. What could make these holes? We used hardware cloth wire 6" down and about 12" under yard. Could be possum (we saw two this summer but not near chicken house or yard. I know we have had rats sporadically when oranges fall in winter. Saw squirrel once running along fence. Any help would be gratefully received. Thank you a bunch.

Post a pic, with a quarter next to hole for scale, someone will probably be able to ID.

4-7" diameter, but not too deep? My guess is squirrels especially if there is a nut tree in the area... The area under my walnut tree looks like a mini mine field this time of year...
