I lost two chicks in the coop to snakes. This happens every year. I killed three snakes in the coop this week. One was over five feet long. During the day I normally let the bigger chicks out and have never lost any until today. I had six chicks and I lost three this evening. While I was looking for them I found two cats I hadn't seen around and thought they were the problem but just minutes later I heard a chick crying. Crows!!! two crows were fighting over it. I saved it and found another in the process.

Oh goodness. I'm so sorry! Everything, and I do mean nearly everything, will try to eat baby chicks. Is there any way for you to secure/protect them in an enclosure until they are much larger?

Oh I'm so sorry!

There must be a lot of snakes in your area! Yikes!

You've given me one more reason not to like crows.
