Hi
I had 2 light Sussex and 1 isa brown and I purchased 2 young barnavaldes which I introduced into the flock slowly. They were getting on well for the last couple of months. 2 morning ago I went down to feed the chickens and my 2 barnaveldas were dead. My question is could they have been killed by the other chickens or was it more likely a predator?

Many thanks
Marion

Do you have a avian vet you have used at all maybe if you could let us know your town and state we could find one what have you done with the birds that where killed please

there are a lot of folks on here that can offer advice, but photos and a full story will help significantly.
Also, I'm so sorry for the loss of your birds - I hope you get some answers.

The birds have already been disposed of.

You may be dealing with a disease that can wipe out the flock I nor many of us cannot diagnose without the bird blood around their eyes is a symptom of a disease known as fowl pox you may Google the disease with the name

The birds were healthy and happy the night before and showed no sign of illness. They were also immunised.

This is a mystery. I would think if the other chickens did it that they would have done more damage. You mention blood around the eyes, but I have seen where they peck the eyes out if they get a bird down and even where they pecked a lot of the flesh from it’s neck exposing the bone. Sounds to me like it was some other reason they died. Do you have weasel type predators around?
