Skunks will take ducks heads off. Don't know about chickens. We've had several ducks killed by skunks.

Mike... Im so sorry about your situation.
Ive raised chickens before and am still learning every day. One morning I went to check on my chickens (silkies) in the henhouse and wondered why my silkie was sleeping in the nestbox. I went to nudge her and she didnt move. I nudged her more and she sort of lay to one side. Her belly was eaten; she had a huge empty cavity. I had thought possums only ate grain but I learned that morning that they eat chickens. That was 25 years ago.

Raccoons eat the heads off. I dont know why they dont eat the entire chicken; just the heads.

You may want to fortify your chicken run and henhouse. They are crafty buggars.
