predators

Good Grief, I can't imagine living day to day with such a threat. It would certainly mean one couldn't leave their pets outside. I'd need to be with my Mini Aussies, Chase and Bear at all times. They are actually inside dogs but spend a lot of time outside in the cool months. My peafowl are pets.....I can just see a pack of wolves hunting them down early mornings. Makes me so angry my birds leave their roost in the trees often before it good and light. My neighbor has a great view of his longhorns on their 50 acres and will shoot any dog chasing his calves. He'd have a time with wolves that would even take down the grown cattle. I'm nervous as all get out when there is a full moon. The coyotes here are out in full force. Everyone locks up small animals. The baby monitor I use picks up their calls which facinate me. One night I swear they were on our 5 acres. These wolves have to be magnificant animals but sounds like they need to be kept down to only a few surviving. I would imagine many folks in the areas where they range practice the 3 - S's, shoot, shovel and shut up!!

Not so much of a threat, but it reminds you that they are much more adapted predators then yourself out there.

We have 2 packs that roam hru our 163 acres every few weeks, one is only 3 wolves strong the other has 9 pack members last time someone got a count done. The pack of 3 we dont mind and I dont think I would shoot one of them, but the 9'er pack could loose about 4 more members before I feel a bit more secure. You dont have to whipe them out just cut down the packs to a number that they dont need 2 elk a week to live.
Its all about management!!!!!
