We own a miniature Australian Shepherd. If she’s out when the chickens are free-ranging she chases them until they return to the coop. Then she returns to just watching. So far she’s never gone closer than a foot even if one is cornered.

Australian shepherds are a herding breed, sounds like yours likes to follow her instincts and round them up. I'm not sure if I would encourage it unless you are asking for it.

That would be awesome to have a dog that didn't let them go out of the yard. Then bring them in when you told it, wow dream come true! Keep us posted!

I agree with @oldhenlikesdogs in that it is something to be very careful with. She is just doing her genetically programmed job, but you don't want it to escalate. It can be trained as I have seen multiple demonstrations of border collies 'herding' runner ducks.
