Preen gland infection?

If so, likely it has Vitamin A plus E, B's etc. I'd try those instead.

What specifically is the A supposed to be for? Immune support?

Do you have Poultry Cell or another poultry vitamin that you gave LC?

I don't have any of that, but I can get some.

"Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin that is naturally present in many foods. Vitamin A is important for normal vision, the immune system, reproduction, and growth and development. Vitamin A also helps your heart, lungs, and other organs work properly." Preen gland infections/impaction have been linked to a Vit A deficiency .

I do have rooster booster, but it smells so horrible that the chickens wouldn't touch the water when I used it once. I will get some Poultry Cell and try that one.

Thanks.

Well, I guess what I have is actually poultry cell, by rooster booster.

I will look into direct dosage. Thank you.

I am thinking that I will just treat him for bugs. I really don't think this is the issue, but is there any harm in treating him?

I will also go out to the coop tonight after everyone is sleeping and see if I see any mites crawling around. I hope not. 🙏

Poutry Cell does smell and I have not gotten one to willingly drink it in water. I direct oral dose them instead. Direct oral dose of Poultry Cell is 1cc per 3 pounds of weight.

Treating for bugs, I would dust him with Permethrin poultry dust. Get around the vent, tail, under the wings, etc. I put the dust in a sock and use it like a powder puff. I powder, then work it down through the feathers to the skin.

Found the issue with Other Roo - we have Cogburn, our rooster, and we named the two cockerels Little Roo and when we finally accepted this one was a roo too, we named him Other Roo. I don't want to get too attached by naming them bc I am hoping to find a good home for at least one of these guys.

Anyway, decided to look closely at his legs today In case we we dealing with scalely leg mites. His scales look great. But we did find an area that was roughed up a bit. Looks like he might have run into some bramble. Picked a.few thorns out of his leg and smathered the area in triple antibiotic. Hard to tell if we got all the thorns.

We will keep an eye on him over the next few days and make sure it heals up nicely.

Thanks for all you help!
