Preen oil replacement

Update: It has helped her feathers be less brittle! I’m gonna fool around with the ratios a little, but 1:1 beeswax and sweet almond oil applied sparingly after tub time seems to be a positive step!
I also have a disabled duck every since I got her I thought niacin deficiency but I still don't know but trying to keep healthy and happy is a challenge her feathers are very brittle and she trys walking with them I can't wait to hear how the solution turns out so greatful for you and sharing your ideas

Hi Amanda,
I am having the same problem as you.
I have two wild Mallard ducks. The Mother deserted her eggs so I hatched them and I've been bringing them up for the last 75 days.
But everytime I put them into water they get water logged.
I was advised by the wildlife trust to bathe them in warm water with a EGO friendly soap. I placed a little oil round the side of the ducks beck and a little inside the mouth so when they preen, some of the oil will get on their feathers. This is not a cure. It may encourage them to preen themselves correctly. But I am tempted to use the bees wax and almond oil that you are using. Please keep me updated on your duck. Thanks👍🇮🇪

I’m also having a similar issue with my khaki Campbell duck , her preen glad is impacted or not working and she’s very old. I’m letting her swim then blow drying her but it’s far from ideal. Any tips or help please ??
