Preening gland damaged...

@crc310 It is a very nice thing you are doing for the duck. You seem like a kind soul. If you have a rescue that is willing to take the duck, personally, I would let them have her. It will make your life a lot easier and it will put her in a place that has the expertise to properly care for her and most importantly, she will have buddies to hang with! (not that I think you can't take care of her, I am sure you are capable)
It will allow you to have more time to enjoy your ducks.

Thanks, guys! I discussed it with my 10 and 4 YO kids and they agree surrendering her would be the best thing for her too. I had a bunch of ideas, hadn’t even thought of giving her up... I appreciate the duck rescue. They are the best!

I got the older one a year ago, we are his 3rd home. The other one was hatched here a few moths ago (long story)... I really don’t want to give up either. Will see how they do. They’ve been together since the attack. The other hen we got with Holly (Scarlette), has been hanging out with the son more. Hopefully it will all work out. Usually they r free range but I’ve created a run covered in bird net in front of the coop to keep the hawk away. It killed 4 of the neighbors chicken hens in a month...
