Prefab Coop Remodel

We had originally bought the homestead coop from tractor supply but realized quickly that it wouldn’t fit what amount of chickens we wanted and the inside tray fell apart after 2 months... My husband and I are not good at carpentry but we found a way to add enough enclosed space for our chickens! We still have some things to finish up but the weather has been crappy lately.. just wanted to share this Incase anyone else needs some ideas!

We added an “extension” for the nesting boxes and 2 perches that are 78” each! The first and last photos are before and the others after.

I may need to expand as well, depending on how many females I have (awaiting DNA tests). I have the same design, but with removable trays in each section. My idea is to lift the entire coop up and build "another" lower level that will be about 1' longer on each side. I hopefully know if its needed in the next couple days! I like your design!

Good job. Do some of those plywood panels come off for ventilation? Or did you add more on the other side?

there is a large vented area on each end and one in back. The plywood doesn’t go fully to the top of the peak on front inside.

Kudos for making it work for you! Despite my incredibly crappy carpentry skills, I have managed to work over a couple of coops myself. Good news: Chickens don't evaluate your building skills!
