Preferred bulk mealworms?!

I'm pretty shocked to learn here that people have hedgehogs as pets in America. I have never in my life heard of someone having a hedgehog as in Britain they are wild animals, normally covered in fleas and a protected species. I would have thought they'd be pretty boring pets as they only come out at night and move very slowly.
 
People have hamsters, mice, reptiles and insects (spiders!) as pets. For sure you don't want to cuddle with a hedgehog! But for many pet owners it is enough to observe their animals. I am planning on having an aquarium in the foreseeable future. Flees? There's a cure for that and once they're all gone, including their eggs the tame hedgehog won't be re-infested so easy. (Btw: Dogs and Cats can also have flees, ticks, and…)

They aren't wild animals at all here so they make for totally cool pets. I am especially into exotic animals because they're unique so it's just the experience of being around one that amazes me! It's an animal I had never seen in person until I owned one as they aren't the most common pet. However, the dog and cat can get fleas just like the hedgehog and that would never stop the family from keeping the pets. Fleas and ticks are 100% preventible in a domestic pet so luckily I have had no such issues with the hedgehog! I plan to keep it that way!! Are there any pets in Britain that would just be considered wild animals to American's? My hubby said some countries keep chipmunks as pets and that seemed bizarre to me like the hedgehog did to you!

Oh hillbilly, you know I cuddle my hedgehog. Quills or not, that face is just too cute. :ya In my defense, I'm not cuddling him when his quills are spiked out and when they're laying down flat you can't even feel them. So yes, it does take some special look/cuddles to make it happen but yes, pets are worth just watching! He does usually only come out at night but we have a schedule so it's fun. Towards the end of the night when everything is winding down, he'll wake up (9 pm) he'll eat and then he'll come run around and play for a little bit. Then he'll find a comfy place to cuddle up and once he falls back to sleep for a nap I tip toe him back into his tank! DELICACY YOU SAY!!! PEOPLE ALSO EAT DUCK MEAT YOU TELL ME?! :gig
