Preferred method of treating for mites?

Ok, the I love you made me lol

I spray the chickens and their coop at night, and it's closed up, so no cats can enter it until late morning, when everything has been dry for hours. It's fine then.
DE is pretty ineffective, and very bad for anyone to inhale! That includes humans, cats, dogs, chickens, everyone.

By the time the weather warms up, I order Dutchies, the natural enemy of mites and put those in the coop. They actively seek out the mites and eat them (and some other pests as well). And I use diatomic earth in their sand bath. No need for chemicals, no chemical traces in the eggs and no danger to other creatures other than the mites.
Dutchies may not be available in North America though (it is a Dutch remedy, hence the name):p
