Puppy pads and 50million layers of paper towel over here.. you have to remove a layer of paper towel every 5secs because they poop all over it

I tend to use paper towels for grip until about a week old, which is when I introduce grit/sand baths. I make sure they've all got the drill with it, then move them onto shavings. I've caught the little boogers choking on bits of wood more than once so I'm paranoid about making sure they have grit in their systems first.

I add a layer of fine sawdust to the bottom then 2 puppy pads over that then a couple layers of paper towels. Remove a layer at a time until they are on sawdust.
