Pregnant barn cat *update* We have kittens!

LaynaDon You have to keep two so you can name the 3rd one "Stalker "

LOL We were thinking about naming him Beanstalk and calling him Bean, just so we can say we have 2 cats named Jack and Beanstalk.

Fatty (#5 We call him fatty because he's the biggest. He was so fat she had trouble birthing him.) Has both of his eyes about 2/3 of the way open. Bean has one eye just about completely open and the other is working on it. :D They are so cute.

I've tried a couple times to get pics! Every time I get enough light to show their eyes, they close them from the brightness. :\ My camera is just not the best. I'll post pics as soon as I have some good ones. Trust me, I'm trying hard!

I weighed them today. They are a week and 3 days old.
From littlest to biggest:
Stripey girl - 6.8 oz.
Stripey boy - 7.0 oz.
Calico and the little brown boy - 7.4 oz.
Bean (ginger) - 7.8 0z.
Fatty (big black kitten) - a whopping 9.3 oz.

I told you he was huge!

I am flying home from CA tomorrow and get to see Muffin's babys for the first time since their eyes were open. They were only a few days old when I left. DH has been sending me updates and pictures on my phone, but I don't have the adapter with me to download to the computer. I will post some when I get home. Is Jack really protective? Hubby says if he picks up a baby she is right in his lap watching every move. The smallest one has one eye that is kind of stuck shut and he has been using an eyedropper to clean it. Muff has a tizzy fit and washes the baby everytime he puts it back Momma cats are really funny.

I bet you cannot wait to see the kittens (and Muffin of course)! I can't wait to see how they have grown either and am really looking forward to pics when you have time. I hope your mom is doing okay and that she is able to adjust to any new situations - my grandmother resisted moving into assisted living (and eventually a nursing home) for years but once she got there, she really seemed to like the attention and company (and the bingo games!).

LaynaDon - good luck with the pictures and I can't wait to see Jack and her babies too - that one kitten sounds like a whopper!

I have pictures!!! :D

Aren't they adorable?! We are considering keeping Fatty instead of Bean. He's so laid back and sweet, Bean is a little less so. We are reserving judgment at the moment and waiting to see how they turn out. But Fatty sure is a sweetie.

What absolute cutie pies!! Thanks for the pics - they are all just precious. Those kitten claws are what allow them to be such great climbers when they get a little bigger - and boy do they hurt when they climb up your leg!! I always feel sorry for the momma cat having to nurse those sharp prickly kittens.

Sooooo cute! I really enjoyed reading all 22 pages of this thread! Brought back alot of memories for me. Years ago when I was about 14-15 getting ready to start high school my little sister came running in the house to tell me there was a fat kitten laying in the street corner, too fat to move. I rushed out the door to see for myself and there laid a teeny tiny fat calico kitten. Well sort of a kitten, about 3 months old and extremely pregnant. She was all belly. After going door to door in the neighborhood trying to find her owners I didn't have any luck or noone wanted to admit she was theirs. I took her in even tho the place we were renting didn't allow pets. My mom was a single parent of 3 girls and struggled to make ends meet as it was. There was a little mom and pop store down the block from our house, the owners were very nice to me and I had asked them if they had any work for me to do in exchange for cat food and litter. They didn't hesitate to put me right to work :) A few weeks went by and the cat was soooo happy to be with me in our home. She woke me up really early the first day of 9th grade, she was wet (her water broke) and scared. I woke my mom up and begged to stay home from school so I could be with my cat. I named her muffin, she was a calico and such a sweetheart. I stayed home that day to watch the birth and be there to comfort her. Her very last baby was breech and very large, she had a heck of a time trying to push that little bugger out so I helped by gently pulling. Once the baby was out I noticed the cord wrapped around his neck. mama quickly chewed the cord from his neck and he took his first gasp. I was relieved! It was an amazing experience to witness. She had a total of 5 babies. The people who owned the store took 2 of the kittens and I found homes for the remaining 3. After the kittens were weaned and off to their new homes we got muffin spayed. She lived for 14 years and was the best cat ever! Congrats on the kittens and giving the mama a nice safe place to stay :D
