Pregnant barn cat *update* We have kittens!

Jack is showing signs of labor now. She is definitely dilated some. I'm not sure how soon we should be expecting kittens. It could still be a few days. But she's at least getting started.

Can't wait to see pictures. Mamma cats are pretty smart even if they are young. Muffin seemed like she was ready for almost two days before she delivered. Keep us posted and PM me if you have questions. Enjoy this experience.

I've read that the stage of pregnancy or labor or whatever this is, can last for up to a week, but usually just a few days.
If you watch her belly you can see the kittens move! I could feel a whole kitten at one point. They are already a good size for delivery. I don't think it will be too much longer. She is desperately trying to get into the house so she can get under a bed. Every time someone leaves the laundry room door open I find her under my little sisters' bed. I keep telling them if they leave the door open then they will be cleaning birthing yuck off their carpet. I don't think they quite understand how hard it would be to get blood out of white carpet. -_-

She keeps doing that bowing thing that they do to mate, every time I pet her. She's still eating, but not as much as usual, and I don't think she'll have the room in her belly to eat for too much longer!

She's massive.

I wonder if a piece of scrap carpet (white perhaps - LOL) or a bath mat on the laundry room floor with either a curtain or a "tent" (i.e., angled or leaning curtain) might be to Jack's liking. It sure does sound like she's goning to pop out some babies soon. It is still so amazing how well Jack has adapted to being kept inside and being handled - wow!

We do have some scrap carpet and some old bathmats... (We really aren't pack rats, we have a separate building with some old things the previous owner left behind. =P) She does seem to like carpet. Maybe she would like that better. Picky little kitty.

She always had a friendly side to her. Never an "I want to be inside" side to her though. I've been really impressed how well she's adapted, too. I'm wondering if we're gonna have a hard time getting her to go back outside... She has "escaped" a couple times now. Meaning she walked outside, looked up at me, and meowed like she had never seen this place before and wanted to go back home. Then she went back inside. -_- No, cat! You are a hunter at heart, remember? You have to eat moles and mice! She'll be inside for another couple months. She has to nurse her kittens for a while, then she has to be spayed and recover from the spay. I hope she doesn't forget how much she loves the great outdoors...

I'll have to catch her next time she ventures out. She's hiding from the horde of children that have recently invaded our house. =P

LOL - Jack probably hasn't much felt like being a huntress for a while! After her babies are born and grow up a little, she will likely return to hunting and may even teach the kids how to do it as well.
