ok so my pygmy goat is due to deliver in less then a month.

this will be my 3 delivery with this goat she usually gives me twins but she is bigger now then she has ever been in her other pregnancies at full term. so I am worried about tripletts.

Any ways this goat named Gabby she is a great mom for 2 days then turns violent on her kids she tries to gore them.

I have done very well bottle feeding her kids.
but I sure wish she would be a good mom.

I thought I would post on here for those of you that would like to be on baby goat watch with me.

I will try to post often on how she is doing.

I would love to hear if anyone out there has a goat due to deliver close to the same as mine also.
kinda cute to swap stories and pics.

I won't have anyone due til next Spring, but I'm eager to see and hear about your new babies! Don't worry about trips, they're not much different then twins, just more to love!

please tell me all about your goats.
How many do you have? what kind? how many are pregnant?
so on and so forth.

mine is due the 27 of August

Hi labadore,

Do you have only one goat? just wondering how you manage that?

I have one female goat around 10 months of age - i started with 2 but sadly lost Trevor to bloat - (that was awful and very unexpected). Anway Trudy is simply gorgeous and seems to be coping ok - when i am not home she spends her time with the sheep. But follows me everywhere when i'm home - usually meets me at the front gate and jumps in the car for a ride down to the house (is sleeping on the table on the back porch right now)

I am going to have her mated very soon so she won't be lonely. How old was Gabby when she had her first baby? I had read somewhere that they are better mums if mated prior to 12 months.

Yes I read that also that you should wait till they are about 12 months old. We have 3 pregant females. One due in Sept. one in Nov. and one in Dec. Then a 12 week old little buck and just picked up on Sat. a 3 week old doe and a 1 week old doe. I will wait until they are a year before breeding them with my blue eyed buck. All my females have delievered before just not for me. The people we had gotten them from.

Good luck

I have 16 goats total. 5 biggie pasture ornimants, 2 nubians, 2 boers, and one LaMancha, and 11 Nigis. 3 bucks and 8 does, none are currently bred, we'll start breeding in September and will be 7 of my nigi does, and not sure if I'll breed the youngest this year or wait til next.

Well my ownership is kinda hard to explain.
I have I guess shared custody.

I bought Gabby from another owner 2 years ago she came to me pregnant. I also bought a blue eyed 6 week old male to use for a stud for her.

I got Gabby to help me with my buisness.
I breed Labs and I usually get very large litters so I have to supliment with a bottle and yes I use goat milk.

My reasoning was I would get a pregnant goat milk her 1 a day freeze the milk for when I need it and sell all her kids.

Nice thought but she refused to be milked and she refused to nurse her own kids.

SO I ended up bottle feeding 2 kids on cow milk that was a gallon of milk a week.

and still buying goat milk for the puppies. lol

But I have always loved goats & I did love Gabby she is a sweet goat loves to be petted and scratched.

I still wanted time with the goats, but couldnt see keeping them full time with my situation.

So I put an ad up for the goats to see who in my area would want them.

I got lucky!!! I found a lady who lives about a half hour away from me and she took all my goats for free with the acceptance that I can come visit when ever I want and if and when I want to own a goat again she will give me a healthy breeding girl and boy for free.

She is a school teacher and asked me if I would also be willing to take any pregnant goats back to my place to help them deliver and keep them until they are good to go.
I was excited this is the part of owning a goat that is fun so of course I agreed.

She being a teacher does not want one of the goats to deliver and have complications (plus she thinks it would gross her out lol)
and with Gabby refusing all her kids I have to bottle feed them for 8 wks.

So after Gabby delivers if she is mean to the kids she goes back to her other home and I keep the kids until they are off the bottle.

So far this arragement is great!
She pays for all feed hay and milk.
I just give love and attention.

This will be Gabbys 3 delivery with me.
I have no idea how old she is or how many other deliverys she has had.

by the way how do I put pictures in here I would love to share her with you all

Thanks for talking to me.

Wow sounds like you have a real thing for bottle feeding babies

Maybe one day your goat friend will have a milker and be able to supply some puppy milk?

would love to see a pic, It looks like you need to have the photos already uploaded to another picture sharing website. Then you click on the Img button above and you will see-

then you copy and paste the url for the picture between the two "img's"
I can't do it as all mine are stored on my computer and i can't see any way to upload them directly.
