Ugh. So I got the final report back, and I feel like it’s still not definitive. They diagnosed him with bacterial septicemia and coccidiosis. Definitively ruled out avian flu, MS and MG, but those are the only specific tests they did.
Then as a side note, they said they saw some mononuclear cells in one nerve in an air sac, and 2 blood vessels in his brain, saying that it “may be associated with Marek’s Disease.” But no definitive “positive” for MD. I’m going to continue assuming I have it in my flock, but is there anything else that could cause that?? I hate the “may be” stuff. I want to KNOW, yes or no. It doesn’t change how I’m handling my flock really, but it just makes me so frustrated and sad. It seems from all my research that there still isn’t even a way to definitively rule it out, as even if one bird doesn’t test positive, it doesn’t mean its 100% certain that its NOT in your flock, just hiding there latent somewhere. Ugh I hate this
