Yesterday night a chick was struggling to come out for more than 12 hours so I decided to help it and I hurt its blood vessel.....with the amount of blood I saw i thought i will lose it immediately. But it somehow pulled through the night and is out of the egg. There is no yolk sac or umblical cord but the chick is very weak and can stand or open his eyes. I tried giving it sugar water(it is not taking it) and have separated it keeping it warm...what should I do now
Ps would like some insight on the legs and what to do next time

i only had to deal with two chicks that hatched early and they both had bled enough I thought I was going to lose them. I'm not in expert in this, but the chick is going to take a few days to act like the others. it's 50/50 if you are gonna lose it or not, all you can do is try to aid it. make sure you don't handle it too much so you don't stress it and monitor it closely. Are the toes curled or bent weird? one looks like it turns in

there is no doubt this one needs to be culled. I know you don't want to hear it and will not believe me, I know I wouldn't have to start with but this one will not make it.

So it's up to you if you want to give it a week trying. Once the 24 hour crying starts you will probably start to agree with me but by then it is heartbreaking to do it.

Do it now. Get it over with. Sorry about being the bearer of bad news but if it will not eat then you can forget about the leg issue which is bad too. Also an important lesson on why not to assist. If it ends in this scenario, who would want that over letting it not make it. They hardly have any conscience yet in the first 24 hours.
That at least is some consolidation, once they open their eyes and walk around they soon become much more aware they are alive.
