The reviews I see are good. I am looking for something for leg mites. I am not sure if one of my girls has them, but I want to treat her with something mild, but I really don't want to coat her legs with vaseline since I use sand in coop and run. It seems like that would be a recipe for an extremely dirty chicken. The directions on this indicate it has to be a direct contact thing.

For Scaly Leg Mites, apply an oil, NuStock Cream or Vaseline to the legs at least weekly to help smother the mites which live under the scales of the feet/legs.

Do you have photos of her feet/legs?

Thanks. No, I don't. I am going to get some when I treat her. If she has them, they are still early and not many.

I was curious about this product being all natural. I want to get some Elector PSP to keep on hand so if I see regular mites I have some and don't have to wait. I might just have to go with that, having read about many good outcomes with it. I just know I want to keep something on hand.

I'd don't know anything about Premo, so can't say how effective it would be treating an infestation, it may work well or it's possible it's better used as a preventative/deterrent.

Elector PSP is supposed to be a good product, I have seen some mixed reviews on that too. I suppose it could come down to the user(s) not mixing correctly or not using the mixed product within a short period of time. I do not know.

For lice/mites, I use a Permethrin based poultry dust on the birds and Permethrin10 for treating housing. The dust I put in a sock, then dust birds all over working it down through the feathers all the way to the skin. I then just put the sock in a jar with a tight lid (labeled) so it stays dry and I can continue to use it as needed. Permethrin10 is a concentrate you mix up, I just mix up enough for a spray bottle and spray my coop/roosting bars/nesting boxes, etc. about every 2-3months once the weather starts to warm up, then once in winter and fall. It seems to work well for me and my environment, but others may find it lacking.

I really like the Premo Poultry Spray. It’s the only thing that’s worked for my girls.
We had a mite infestation two years ago and I tried EVERYTHING. DE, Vaseline, vegetable oil, permethrin sprays, permethrin dust, even made a permethrin dip and dunked my birds in them. None of it worked for me - the mites kept coming back. Bought a bottle of Premo on a whim because it was cheaper than Elector PSP and basically dowsed my entire coop in it. Haven’t seen a bug in months.

I also spray my girls under the wings, vents and legs with it as well. They don’t mind it at all and the smell is actually pleasant.
