My silkies live mostly outdoors, that's why they are often dirty and have to be bathed for the show!
I do it very simply, without much complication!
I pour warm water into two buckets, in one I put shampoo for dogs against fleas
(it has a neutral smell and chases away all the bugs on my chickens), in the other bucket I put just a little apple cider vinegar.
I soak the chicken in a shampoo bath and rub off all the dirt with my fingers.
When I'm sure I've cleaned everything, I just soak/rinse them in another bucket with vinegar.
I wrap them in a towel and dry them as much as I can.
In the end, I blow them out well with a hair dryer, lightly rubbing the wet feathers with my fingers, so that they dry faster. It seems that my silkies really enjoy the warm air of the hair dryer, because they don't fly away!
And that's it, they're ready for the show, I'll post pictures of the show later!
