Preparing for First Lockdown... Tomorrow! Any last minute advice?

My other one hatching is resting a little. I grabbed one of my baby chicks that was born on May 28 to be by the incubator so it would hatch faster and it worked because she wouldn't stop chipping lol so I cheated a little lol.
CONGRATS SIS!!! but i WOULDN'T pull the plug, the membranes on the blackstars dry out real easy, i tried and they started to dry out, so I put it back- just trying to help otherwise you can have them die in the shells or prolapse trying too hard to get out.... it's happened to me....

I think so to Gardeningirl, I just don't want your thread shutdown because of others. I hope you have a great hatch.

great guess, exactly right, but i was talking in general..... my black stars are touchy that way, i have had prolapses, some w broken legs, and some die trying to hatch bcuz they did not have a high enough humidity,(in past hatches, and when i pulled the plug on my new incubator they started to dry out so i got them moist and put it back) sorry all- just trying to help others not make the mistakes I myself have...... GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATS!!!!!! have a happy hatch!!

Has anyone had experience with Buff Orpington hatches? Do they tend toward drying out or being overly hydrated?

You should be fine. I find that all chicks need fresh air. Hence removal of the plug. I add water every couple hours through the vent holes. The more chicks in the bator, the faster things seem to dry up. I think the dust covers the water and it acts like a buffer and humidity can't escape.
