Well, i've got all the supplies together. pretty soon i'm going to go out and catch my duck with bumblefoot. i'm afraid i'm going to have to cut the absess open. well, whatever i have to do to make my little girl better. i've collected so many supplies...sterile gauze, antibiotic cream, dressing, waterproof tape, antiseptic wipes and even sterile gloves. oh boy.

thanks. i'm so worried. its not too bad yet, but she's limping a lot. once it warms up a bit more, i'll go out and start her treatment. poor little girl. her drake is going to be upset with me.

I did my first bumblefoot surgery about a month ago. I was really nervous. I did learn a couple of things, in that to try not to make the incision in one cut. Make a shallow incision, then cut a little deeper with the nect cut, then deeper with the next. My mistake was trying to cut too deep first up. Also cotton buds (I think you guys call then q tips) are great for applying pressure in small places if you do get a bleeder.

Good luck.

thanks. i'm sterilizing all the tools i'm going to use right now. i even sterilized the bucket i'm going to soak her foot in. what does anybody use to make the cut? i was thinking a razor blade (not like shaving razor) but i'm not sure. any suggestions?
