Preparing my chickens for show?

Yes it does, lol! I ended up coming home with an extra chicken when I brought them back from the fairgrounds last night. Somebody was selling two Partridge Cochins for $10 each, so I bought one of them. The one I bought ended up winning 1st place in his class, so I know he's show quality.

A judge told me he was show quality. And lol, I could tell that Show Sheen was sprayed on him or something, because when I picked him up his feathers felt different.

I have two photos of him. Please take in mind the body photo didn't come out as good as I would've liked:

His name is Romeo. I just kept the name the old owners gave him.

Wow... that looks very similar to one of the blue/black copper marans roosters I just saw the other day. Am I wrong? That doesn't look like a cochin to me...

I don't raise them, but I thought they were more like fluff-balls with feathers for feet.

He's gorgeous, though...

Pink Spray? Hmm, never thought about that. I'll look into it, thanks!

And the owner told me he was a Cochin. He does have feathers on his legs and feet, or are Marans feather-footed too? I Googled 'Partridge Cochin Rooster' and the image results came out looking just like my cockerel. And thank you! I love my new addition! He's such a sweety!

Unfortunately, judges tend to be more lenient when dealing with 4H and FFA persons. The rooster is a Partridge Cochin, he's just a production version of the breed. He's not awful, but will make a good addition as a friendly rooster that's pretty to look at.

Ah, ok... I learn something new from here every day!

He is beautiful, just not what I typically see of the body type when I see cochins, I guess. I bet he throws some beautiful chicks, though...
