After a considerable amount of time. effort, & money, I was thrilled when I received my first egg. A lovely blue Araucana. I may sound a little odd but I would really like to preserve it intact. Is there a way I could do this? Perhaps by dunking it in polyurethane or some other type of sealer?

they drain eggs in russia and decorate them. bet you could google it! The insides will rott so you will have to drain it.

I read somewhere that you could preserve an egg without draining it...I think someone was talking about preserving a wind egg and, if I remember correctly, the trick was to keep it in a cool, dry place and turn it frequently.

I have one right now that is the tiniest egg I have ever gotten and I have been just turning it a couple of times a day to try to let the insides dry out. Don't know if it will work or not, though.

Anyone else have any experience drying out an egg and preserving it WITHOUT poking holes to remove the inside first?

The other option is to poke a tiny hole in both ends, stick in a paperclip to scramble the insides, then blow gently on one end to get the egg to come out. You then rinse the inside out and put it in a safe place to dry.
