Twister update

My beautiful Twister has passed away, she leaves a huge hole behind as she was quite the character, pecking at my leg for attention, and would hop up on my shoulder while I was working in my office.

Have the old girls pass away is sad, but to have a young hen pass on is just very depressing, she was just 2.5 yrs old and it makes me wonder if those leghorn genes had anything to do with it.

Oh what sad news! I’m really sorry. She was a mainstay here on FBA. Many of us remember when she came to you! Such a gregarious personality among your gang there, she certainly made an impression on me in her short time here on earth.

2.5 years is young. The leghorn genes are ubiquitous, they say…that’s about the age of the three Buckeyes Butters, Peanut and Popcorn that died here, too.

Very sad… you do have wonderful memories though, and those wonderful pictures with you there!

Ok so the Noirans have names. Can’t remember who suggested the french names but I chose a few for the chickies

Odette
She has this strange curly tail happening.

Virginie
She is the darkest of them all, and has fabulously feathered feet.

Gisèle
She has a lovely Rufus coloured breast and also has lovely feathered feet, even more heavy than Virginie.

Vera
This was my grandmother’s name, not french but I like it, and Vera was the first to hop up on me and to grow in her tail.

Those are the girls tonight, they are growing and going everywhere.

Gosh I hope my kiddies get the really nice lacing on their feathers like Tilly. Right now they are rather splotchy.

You know, you should make a 'water/rain' garden. Some plants that like moisture and might provide food and shelter for the girls chickens (sorry Mr. Chips!). Maybe red-twig dogwood, or aren't some of the chokeberries -black? (arionia) water liking?????
