Pressure Canner Problems???

They are very heavily made. It looks like a bomb sitting on top of my stove. It's also American made dye cast aluminum. It is very good at regulating temp and pressure, although you have to play with the temp on the stove a little to get the pressure right. It heats quickly. I can cook a 5 lb roast in 45 minutes. It also has several safety features built in. It has both a weighted gauge and a steam gauge. The weighted gauge never needs calibrated. Pressure cookers/canners with only a steam gauge must be calibrated before first use and annually. There is a rubber plug that will blow to release pressure to prevent the cooker from blowing to bits. Obviously, if you've never used a pressure cooker/canner before, you should read the safety part of the manual very carefully. Of course, it is covered in orange warning labels, so I can't imagine anyone not being very cautious.

ETA, I consider this canner to be heirloom quality. It's hard to say that about anything made these days.
