Pressure treated wood

I also use PT wood for anything that touches the ground. Or concrete bases.

I did choose NON pt wood for my raised edible garden beds... I just couldn't get past that in my mind and now I wonder if I should also avoid growing edibles in old tires!

Please note that I think cedar buildings are okay, but cedar shavings are not. Big difference between the two and their purposes. :pop

I only have PT wood under the coop as the skids (they're not directly on the soil, but obviously serve as the buffer between the non-PT wood and the concrete block footers). Rest of the coop is a mix of pine and cedar I believe.

I do use chunky cedar chips in my coop and run litter but they're mixed with a number of other woods and all the chips have been aged and have very little aroma left. Not the same as bagged cedar shavings which are usually quite aromatic.

My garden beds are also all non PT wood (eastern cedar, to ward off bugs) as I also can't get over the fear of anything leeching into the vegetables. I also use a lead free hose and nozzle, make my own compost for the garden, etc.
