Pretty sure these 3 Naked Necks are roosters, but I need a second opinion.

This spring I got three Naked Neck chicks. As they have been growing I have had the toughest time telling their sex. It seems to me that hens of this breed have fairly decent size combs and waddles. Burt the first photo is the only one I am sure of, he has been crowing for well over two months, but the other two have not. The red one looks like he will try, but never does and is the smallest in size. All three have thick legs and the solid black one is definitely the largest in size, but not crowing. They are 17 weeks old. Can anyone tell me if these are definitely roosters and why only one crows?

Absolutely males, all three. They have the long, slender saddle feathers, which only boys get.

I thought so. Never owned chickens before so I needed to be positive before I had to look for homes. Thanks for your help.

All three are roos...the girls do get big combs and wattles but they do not turn red until they are really close to laying age. Your boys also have beautiful saddle feathers

leadwolf1 now that I can see them compared to a hen I can definately see the difference. This whole time I have been comparing them to each other. I am not banned from having a rooster, but probably need more hens since I now only have two girls. I wish a 3:2 ratio would work. Burt is an awesome Roo so far. My red one is another story. He likes to come up behind me and bite my back and just tried to attack my grandma. Good thing she is no sissy. Silly birds.

JessicaD01 The chicken in the background is an Easter Egger. She was sold to me from the feed store as an Americana, but I guess I got hip to the differences.

I have 7 NN roos right now. I hatched a bunch of eggs and only got 3 pullets out of them all. I have Marek's in my flock so I can't give them away. After losing so many to Marek's...35+ to date...I can't kill and/or eat a healthy chicken just cause it's a roo..so, they are living the good life in a bachelor pad built just for them I would pick out your favorite...mine was awesome..I just lost him last month to Marek's

. He was funny and sweet. He loved to take treats ever so gently from your hand. He would not only protect his girls but, would protect me from my son's evil silkie! I still miss Charlie...
