hello,
I have had a problem a little duckling at my farm just died 😭. our friend gave me two little ducklings warning me that one was sick altho the other was happy and vigorous. so I took them because she did not want them then a few days later we fond him (the sick one) paralyzed lieing on his back with his feet up shacking in pain😱. so we euthanized him. I did some research on what happened to him and I think it may be wry neck. still the other duckling (the one on my profile pic).
is fine and good but lonely so I was look for a way to prevent/quarintine her so we can get her a play mate without putting the playmate at risk of catching wry neck
thanks

Wry neck is from a vitamin deficiency. Some seem more predisposed to it than others. Feeding a ration formulated for the species and age should prevent most deficiencies. Ducklings should be raised on a duck starter, or something like Purina flock raiser.

You don't need to worry about it being contagious. Go ahead and get them a friend. If you're worried, you can give them supplements, though with good feed you don't need it.

ok thanks
yes I think have been feeding her well
I think her brother got it from botulism poisoning which can be a cause of wry neck because the place we got these ducklings at had very stagnant water and I wouldn't want her pal to get botulism her neither
