I figure this is the best place to ask. How much would you pay/sell a 1 month old emu for? I'm not sure of sex, but by the markings on the head, I'm leaning towards female even though we know that's not always 100%. She loves people and is well bonded. She's pet only. I really don't want her to end up as meat or oil, and considering I have no idea if she is 100% female, idk what might happen. I know once she's gone though it's out of my hands :\\ Pictures of her here, http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2038303&id=1040017529&l=824a96b3c3 Thanks for any suggestions!

It really depends on your location. Out here in the desert I have seen them anywhere from 40 to 75 dollars. I am sure they are not that expensive in more rural places though. Sorry I can't be of much help.

Thank you Vanessa. That does help, it's exactly what I asked for

I'm in Baltimore County. I want to post her on craigslist but I don't know what to ask for as an adoption fee. I know without one they will flag me right away. Sigh*

Around here you can find them $50-$100. Lately they have been harder to find, so $75 - $100. I've sold 2 that were males because I already have 2 males. They went to pet homes as livestock guardians and just for fun. They send me pics all the time.

I wish someone would take mine for the same purpose. My emu already kills and eats mice so I'm sure she would be good to have around a farm haha.

Jennifer, they are extremely adorable! Very fun to have around

We were actually supposed to get 2 or 3 this month but my shed/barn hasn't even been started yet. The trees that are in the way of the building are taking longer to take down and clean up are taking longer than we anticipated. We were going to pay $50 a pair for day-old chicks. Really bummed out about not getting them but it is not the right time, maybe next year!!!

Aw! I wish you were closer. I'd LOVE an emu....I don't know if there are regulations.... we were told we can have 20 'birds' per acre (meaning ducks, chickens, turkeys, etc) But I would like an emu. It's like a chicken, right? Just a tall one!
I wish you luck finding a new home for it.
