A well placed bullet is the quickest and most efficient way to dispose of predators, as long as it is legal where you live.

A .22 is my method of choice. Unfortunately, other folks may find this method offensive. And to be perfectly honest so do I, but I'm not playing when I trap an animal. When it's trapped, it's gone. I feel sorry for other folks who can't get the deed done, and can't find the assistance when needed.

We use a pellet gun...with a new co2 cartridge and a straight shot to head or neck it can be quick and easy. .22 yes is the best but if you don't have it theres always the pellet gun

Raccoons are nasty varmints. I've never thought they were particularly cute, just big grumpy rats with masks.

I think they're kind of cute. and I sometimes feel bad for more than 10 seconds when I have to kill one.

What I really feel bad about is being to lazy to skin them and tan the pelt.

They are really cute. That said, when you lose 10-12 hens in a night to them, they suddenly become less so. I don't need a wild animal telling me my building skills stink. I already know. For the cost of a .22 shell, I can cover my inadequacy.

My building skills suck too, not a straight or level piece of wood or wire anywhere on any of my coops, but no holes either, even if it meant a couple layers of wood/wire...lol

That just shows character, my coop is the same, nothing square in the deal, but i LOVE IT!!!

2 of mine are made entirely of scrap wood...lol

I only bought 1 sheet of OSB for the whole 3 coops/duckboxes. The wire & hardware on the other hand, that cost me a bit

ok....so I just read through all 6 pages of this. For those that talk about skinning them, the fur is not worth anything right now. You always want them with their winter coats, summer coats are worthless and would probably slip (hair fall out) if you tanned them. I myself shoot them with a .22 and leave the carcass for the coyotes. They gotta eat too. Of course come winter time I'll be huntin those same yotes.

I am surprised nobody seems to have commented on the suggestion made earlier of using a connibear trap to dispatch them. Those thing are lethal and quick! Best of all they only cost $10 - $15.

I use to trap coons all summer since they are thick in my area. I started fur trapping last winter so this will be the first summer that I don't try and trap them. I'll wait until winter and trap all I can and sell the fur. Coon furs that were put up properly last year were going for $18 for an average sized coon. They could fetch as much as $28 for a XXL boar coon.
