We need some guidance. We purchased two Ky Bourbon Red Turkeys to feed out for some yummy eats which was highly recommended from our friends that live in Simpsonville, KY. To make a long story short in the process of feeding these turkeys out our feed salesman has inquired about purchasing them from us for future breeding stock. As we watch them grow they do look to be the same sex and we are leaning more toward females. But here is where we are stuck. What to sell them for? Can you give us some guidance on what to sell these turkeys for? They are June birds.
Any information would truly be helpful.
Thanks

Depending on the area and supply and demand, young hen turkeys can go anywhere from $30 to $100 each. If it was me, I would ask the person to make an offer and if it was in a range that I was comfortable with, I would accept the offer.

Keep in mind that you purchased these turkeys for eating and that the going rate for dressed heritage turkeys around Thanksgiving can be anywhere from $7 to $10 a pound.

Good luck.
