So... I thought this might be interesting to ask.

Do you think the chances of getting ticks on you is the same or different in Pine/Coniferous tree areas compared to other types of trees, forests? And is that different also comparing like grassy open areas to that too?

It seems like in certain times of the year that some places in the US you have to be pretty careful about tickets getting on you when you go hiking, etc.

Anyway, its curious to think about right? Wonder what you think...?

This is just about people and ticks or chickens and ticks?

Personally here in TN I've got ticks more often in pine forests and from pine trees than any other type of habitat I think. Thick grass habitats are a close second.

Earlier in spring I found a tick on one of my chickens and there isn't any trees within at least 40ft in my yard, most further away. That's the only tick I've ever seen on a chicken tho...

I'm from a part of the country where ticks are practically nonexistent. Now I live where they are ubiquitous. So IMO the best place to get ticks is outdoors. So ... I pretty much stay indoors. When I have to go outside I wear boots that go up to my knees, stay away from trees of all kinds, and stay out of grass higher than my ankles. I rarely get a tick, but it's not a grarantee. I came down with tularemia earlier this summer from a tick bite but I hardly noticed bc I was also battling a brown recluse spider bite and a poison ivy rash at the same time. Silly me for going outside, lol! :lau
