So, the feed that I buy from our near-by granary for our chickens (2 of which have just started laying) says that it is a complete feed and that I don't need to supplement it with anything. I have 9 LF chickens, 2 Bantams, and 3 Ducks that free-range in a large (45' X 55') fenced yard all day, and they get extra greens from the garden and have access to a graveled area.
Now that they're laying, should I also give them oyster shell? Or is the label on the feed correct in that they don't need supplements?
This is our first time raising chickens, so we are learning a lot still.

Oyster shell helps with having strong shells. I offer it free choice on the side and they take it when they need it. It's inexpensive and they don't go through it very fast.

Ok, thanks. I guess I will just keep an eye on their eggs, and if they seem thin then I will get them some oyster shell.

I read that the first year of laying they do fine on just the layer pellets but as they get older they may need a supplement cause they dont absorb as much through their food.... Kind of like us humans..
