I saw it just about half an hour ago.
That was definately one of the best movies ever.
And it's also now my favourite.
It was just pure awesomeness.
And I saw it in 3d. xD
I went last night to see it around 9:30 pm. I didn't see it in 3D because I don't have depth perception, so the 3D glasses wouldn't do much for me.
I thought it was awesome...not really on the classic epic level of Star Wars or Lord of the Rings, but definitely a great movie. I'll get it on BluRay for sure when it comes out. One of the things I liked was that there were so many "new" ideas as far as the setting and characters, what the planet was like, etc. I love it when I read a book or see a movie and see something that is totally new or different. I won't put any specific examples here because I don't want to put out any spoilers.
It is so cool that so much of the movie was computer-generated because it didn't really seem like that at all. There really isn't any limit with what can be done in movies now, if the producers have a big enough budget. (Another example would be the Transformers movies, which I thought were totally awesome).
The only thing that bugged me about the movie was that sometimes the camera would focus on something and then zoom in. I think it was distracting because it kind of reminded me that I was watching a movie, so I'd be pulled away from the story for a second or two.
On an unrelated note, I saw a preview for the Prince of Persia movie. I've never played the game, but that movie looks sweet.
I agree, it was a great movie. I'm not a big sci-fi guy at all but liked the movie.
I saw it in 3D and my eyes were screwed up for a couple of minutes but once I got adjusted it was ok. After I took them off, I had to adjust to real life!
However good the movie was, I still went home and dreamed that I was an avatar.... LOL... pretty creepy!
Is it family friendly? My mom was reading some kind of review and it said it was heavy on language and had some nudeity on some of the blue people or something like that.
Quote:
all the blue people are covered... with loin cloths tho but they are covered
I would not say the language is heavy... i have seen films rated PG that are heavier on the cussing... my DD went to see it with me and the rest of the family and she is 7... she quite enjoyed it... much better then where the wild things are which scared the jeebers out of her, and so did the christmas carol
It very well could have been one of the best movies I have ever seen. The animation is amazing, and the plot is equally as amazing. It was long, but then again, I was enjoying it so much I didn't want it to end. LOL.
My son and I saw it on Christmas and we both loved it. It was visually stunning even in 2D. We also both agreed (he's 18) that it was inappropriate for anyone less than at least mid-teens. The tribal people are all semi-nude and the last battle scene has a graphic kill scene. The political message is heavily one sided. If you have a military family member you might want to watch something else.
