probably a stupid question

i got a 6-7 week old chick that i am suspecting is a roo

do pullets flare out there neck feathers, or is that strictly a roo characteristic?

Females will do this too. At 6-7 weeks, you may be able to tell based on the comb. It is tall, erect, and red (male) or low & pale pink (female)?

Not a stupid question.

I nearly had a melt down the day two of my hens got into scuffle and out came those neck feathers. I thought I had the world's 1st egg laying roosters.
