Problem making decision

Bumblefoot is usually from staph, which is a gram positive bacteria.  When I looked it up, it said that it treats gram positive and gram negative bacteria, including penicillinase producing staph, which is the reason penicillin sometimes doesn't work.  As you all know, I don't use much of anything on my chickens since i just do the bumblefoot surgery.

Baytril is really amazing... It's what I use if i suspect one has an E. coli infect. Also had a feral cat on death's door, snot pouring out of it's nostrils, rattling in lungs and after 5 days of Baytril it was fine. Also used it on a few peachicks at the feed store when they had URI's and they recovered.

Dosing really should be done orally, not in the water, and unlike other many other drugs, you should weigh the bird and calculate the dose according to that weight.

Baytrial is real good. I had a cat with a deep bone infection and baytril cleared it up when no other antibiotic worked.

The vets I use have told me to use it the following ways:

• 10mg/kg twice a day for five days
• 15mg/kg once a day for five days
• 20mg/kg once a day for five days

Do you have the 10% or the 2.27%?
Let me know which one it is and I'll calculate the dose if you want.

I love that book, lol. This is the formula I use to calculate doses:

Weight in pounds divided by 2.2 (that converts pounds to kg) times the mg per kg I want to use (that gives the number of mg needed) divided by the number of mg in one ml and the answer to that is the number of ml to give.

. So if I were going to pick the 15mg/kg amount for a 2 pound bird it wound look like this:

2 / 2.2 x 15 / 100 = 0.14ml
