I set my 6 chicken eggs in the genesis today and the temperature was perfect...I went back an hour later and it dropped to almost 90..i let it be for a while...I went back and Its down to 80! The red indicator light isn't coming on..its not heating itself back up. The fan is working, but the thermostat isnt. The manual says if it reaches its set point and then the light fails to come back on once the temp lowers again, to toggle the set rocker switch because it may have come unlocked...I did that and the light still didn't come on, and its not warming up...help , I don't want my eggs to die on the first day!

I talked to GQF and they are going to send me a new heating unit. It will leave tomorrow, but its not being shipped priority! I already started the incubation...will they die? They were in 100* temp for about an hour. We just bought the incubator, how did it already stop working!!!

Your eggs will most likely be fine. I would doubt any developement would have started yet. Get them cooled back down and wait for your new parts. Sometime the electronic parts just fail. Kind of like your computer.

Yeah...haha..but it just makes me soo mad that I just bought the incubator a week ago and it only ran for two days!!

Well...I contacted Meyer Hatchery and they are going to send me another batch of 6 on July 13th...giving me enough time to receive my new parts. The only problem is that if I receive the parts first..I am going to try and set the old batch, but then when I set the new batch a few days after the old batch will have to be stopped turning while the new ones still need it...and I only have one incubator(that was really hard to type, I hope you understand) It just makes me so mad that this happened and now I have to wait a few more weeks....

Do you know anyone that you can borrow a bator from? That might work best for you if it's an option.

Hi,

I was up for hours last night working my Genesis over. If you are going to cool the eggs down and they are shipping a new one then may I suggest you fiddle with the old one.

Mine kept going down also (only after I had tried to lower the temp by a degree or two-- my fault for fiddling but they said to if the temps were off and they were!) Totally goofed the heat up.

What I found was best was to reset the settings. (One of my 3 incubators was even set backwards!)

Turn of all the rocker switches (away from the #'s) Then turn on switches 2,4,6,8 (wait til the little bulb flashes and stops flashing)(only a moment or so) then turn off all rockers again. Wait til it flashes and then turn the #4 rocker back on.

Wait and watch the thermometer inside the incubator to see if it is going up. If it is then give it at least 45 minutes to stabalize.

If not do it all again. If that does not work. Then turn off the rockers, turn on 1,2,3,4,5 then turn them off, then turn on rocker #4

All I can say is that I kept fiddling with mine and eventually hit the right ones at the right times and they are all working right.

Good luck, keep us posted

I never even messed with anything and it did that....I tried what you said and the red light doesn't even turn on at all....i feel like smashing the incubator!

I know exactly how you feel (I am the one who wrote the post--Anyone else want to stomp on their incubator?)

I really am sorry for the situation you are in. This gets to be very addicting so you may want to buy one more to hatch them out in. That is the predicament I am in. I bought three and still am needing another one, but enough is enough.

Did you get the turner. I really appreciate mine. I would not want to be without it.
