Hello I have hope that everyone is doing well. I have a question one of my hen is not really active today she just sits in one place with her eyes closed. On a closer inspection I found a lump on her throat/chest area it’s really hard like a rock. She also keeps moving her neck to the side like the lump is disturbing her. I would appreciate your advice guys. Should I bring her inside and keep her under lamp?

Is this lump the crop?

A heat lamp isn't going to make your bird better.
What's the temperature outside?

What exactly do you feed?
Cage her so you can get clear photos of fresh poop.

Have you ever had to treat your flock for coccidiosis or worms?
Have you brought any new birds home in the last few months?

Thank you for your reply. Today it’s 11 degrees outside. They get corn mix from Allen & Page Super Corn Mix and Heygates Country Layer Pallets and cocked sweetcorn and some mealworms as a treat. Her her drippings are white but I gave her some water with Greek Yoghurt as my friend said it can help to boost her immune system. Can it be old food stuck? Yes she is new she came over two weeks ago with her sister. She always moved her neck more to the side than her sister. When I touch her lump it looks like she is trying to push it down by moving her neck to the side. I’m really worried that she is just falling asleep.

It really feels like there is a food accumulated in her crop and I spent some time massaging the lump and it feel like some parts are breaking but there is still a large portion solid like a rock - I’m terrified I have hope she will make it.

So I managed to massage her crop and separate the lump but there was a large part which was still causing obstruction I managed to empty her crop and I found ball of grass and some seeds from corn mix. I think I will keep them on their normal food for a couple of days without any addition of corn and other treats as I think she was mainly eating her corn mix instead on normal food. I have hope this will solve the problem.

That's wonderful! Great job! Sounds like you are on the right track. You can add vitamins and electrolytes to her water for a few days to perk her up.
