Problem with a peachicks rear-end

Trust me when I say this, it is not a fixable condition. I tried for two weeks trying to get a pea chick I had back to normal but it won't happen. In my case, the pea was already like that when I purchased it, I thought it just had diarrhea.

That is bad. They should never have sold a chick that was not completley healthy.

I think some can get better, certainly in chickens. But maybe not the "congenital" cases.

I agree, it does not sound like a birth defect to me. Persevere with the good care you are giving it and I think there is a very high chance that it will outgrow the problem.

Pasty butt is a fixable condition if you catch it when it first start if you wait a few days before you see it and start treatment the vent will get a infection from not being able to poop and the chick might not make it. Your peachick sound more like it had Coccidia

I hope you are feeding a medicated starter if not it could be coccidia. The starter need to be 20 to 22% to much protein could cause pasty butt also

I just looked at the bag of feed and it is medicated and the protein is a minimum of 18%. Is this fine to feed them? I am going to go clean it and add some vaseline now. Hope this gets better soon.
Also about that yogurt can it be flavored?
Will keep all of you updated. Thanks for all this help!

I don't have any in the house right now so I will get some tomorrow and give it to the peachick right away. Update: The poop doesn't harden on its butt, but it just doesn't come out all that way and it sticks to his fuzz.

I tried feeding it the yogurt but it wont eat anything, not even regular food. I have a feeling it isn't going to make it. I picked him up and he was cold, even when he was under the heat lamp. He is drooping his wings.
