Hello! :) So I have four coturnix quail eggs that I'm worried about and wondering if they need to be assisted with hatching. They are still alive and moving and can still see red veins. I'm not hearing any chirping yet. I can tell they are trying to pip through though. But haven't been able to tell if they have internally pipped yet or not. They was put into the incubator at 8 something pm on January 23rd. Today makes 22 days. On day 17 I made a safety hole in the air cells while not damaging any of the veins. The temperature has been kept between 38 and 39 degrees Celsius. I've been keeping up the humidity also. Do you think I should continue assisting? Thank you for any advice in advance!

in the words of @Kiki ”how many calibrated thermometers do you have” has your hygrometer been salt-tested for accuracy. are these the only 4 eggs set or have others already hatched? have you hatch anything successfully in this incubator before or is this your first hatch?? my batch set around the same time hatched chicks from day 16.5-day 21 with a 76% hatch rate.....of the unhatched eggs, some were malpositioned and died in shell without internally pipping and 2 had managed to pip and absorbed yolk but never made it any further.

Definitely leave them be until all blood veins recede. The above post asked some great questions too. Just keep an eye on them, but there's nothing you can do until the blood veins recede all the way and the yolk is absorbed.

The incubator I'm using is new and this is my first time trying to hatch any eggs in this one. The eggs I'm trying to hatch has been shipped to me. I order 9 eggs at a time. The incubator I used before, I had managed to successfully hatch only one without issues. The new incubator I have turns the eggs and monitors and controls the temperature and humidity. The egg turning part turns every 2 hours. Right now I'm having 4 eggs trying to hatch out of 9. My old incubator was really cheap and really simple and everything was done manually. I just checked on one of the eggs and it isn't moving from what I can tell so far, I can see that the red veins are still intact and it hasn't absorded the yolk yet either which means it isn't or wasn't quite ready to hatch yet. The others are still moving though.
