Problem with hen attacking cats

Sorry for you kitties. I to have this problem except its with my 4lb Chihuahua. Everytime I let the poor thing outside the hens chase her around the yard pecking, pulling her hair, and the rooster is brutal to her. literally she is terrified to go pee. I have 60 plus hens that Free Range and it doesnt matter if I walk her on a leash and swat at them they come from all directions. Why have they started this at 1st they got along fine. Now my carpet shampooER needs a break and so do I. I think she looks like a snack to them.
