problem with my clutch

this is my first broody hen and she's been sitting on a clutch of 18. one hatched the other day and thought i heard more chirping under her. but went out this mornin to check and their was a horrendous smell... checked the eggs and no more baby chick. 17 eggs... lots of filthy maggots!! so. i cleaned out that nest box and moved her into the other one with the remaining eggs after i wiped the maggots off. just wondering what's going on!?

You have some rotten eggs. Smell them and get rid of the bad ones. Can you candle? I don't know what could have happened to your chick listen closely maybe you can find it by listening for peeps? Im not sure what else to say.
